Daniel Seth Loeb (born December 18, 1961), known as Dan Loeb, is an American hedge fund manager. He is the founder and chief executive of Third Point LLC, a New York-based hedge fund with a portfolio worth $14 billion. ''New York'' has noted that Loeb's "preferred strategy" is to buy into troubled companies, replace inefficient management, and return the companies to profitability, which "is the key to his success." Loeb was described as "one of the most successful activists" in 2014. In June 2015, his personal net worth was estimated at $2.7 billion,〔 compared with $2.2 billion in 2014.
